After a video call, ask Merlin for a summary and action items in Slack, Teams, chat, desktop or phone. Fetch the transcript once, then smart follow-ups without relistening.
You know the drill: an hour on Zoom or Teams, incomplete notes, action items stuck in someone's head. Meeting summaries in CallMerlin fix that. Ask for a recap in any channel after the call. Merlin fetches the transcript, extracts action items and stores the result. Follow-up questions use that saved summary, not the full transcript. Genuinely handy, and you never switch to a separate AI tool.
Where does it work?
Same question, every channel where you already use CallMerlin:
- Web widget, desktop and Android: type or speak your question after PIN verification.
- Slack: @CallMerlin summarize the latest Zoom meeting.
- Teams: @Merlin summarize the latest meeting.
- Phone: after your PIN, speak your question.
You do not need to remember which channel you used. The summary belongs to your account and stays available for follow-ups in another channel.
How it works
- Connect Zoom or Microsoft 365 under Connections.
- The host records with transcription on (Zoom cloud recording or Teams live transcription).
- Grant PIN users the Meeting summaries permission under PIN permissions.
- After the meeting, ask Merlin for a summary and optional follow-up suggestions.
- Merlin stores the summary. Later you ask: what were the action items for Finance?
Setting up Zoom
For Zoom meetings you need Zoom Pro or higher, with cloud recording and audio transcript enabled in the Zoom web portal. The host must record to the cloud. Connect Zoom via OAuth in CallMerlin and grant the Meeting summaries PIN permission. Then a question like summarize the latest Zoom meeting works.
Setting up Microsoft Teams
For Teams, connect Microsoft 365 under Connections. Turn on live transcription during the meeting. Your tenant admin must enable transcription for online meetings in Microsoft 365. Grant the Meeting summaries PIN permission. Ask in Teams: @Merlin summarize the latest meeting.
Not the same as summarizing a thread
CallMerlin can also summarize a Slack or Teams conversation in a thread. That is different from a video meeting:
- Thread summary: chat messages in the thread, command like summarize this conversation.
- Meeting summary: transcript from Zoom cloud recording or Teams meeting transcription.
Meeting summaries require the Meeting summaries PIN permission. Thread summaries use the regular message permissions.
Bonus: voice clips in Slack
Separate from Zoom and Teams: send @CallMerlin a voice message in Slack (max. 5 minutes). Merlin transcribes the clip and replies in the thread. Handy for a quick question on the go. Works with the standard CallMerlin Slack app, no extra setup.
Limits and billing
- Paid: up to 20 meeting summaries per account per day (Zoom, Teams and live recording share this limit).
- Trial: max 2 per day (same shared limit; 7 days → max 14).
- Up to 50 follow-up questions per account per day.
- Summaries remain available for 90 days.
- Via Slack or Teams, a new session starts as 1 minute (after 10 minutes of silence); extra messages in the same session may increase the forfait.
