From today you can use CallMerlin directly as a desktop application on Windows. One hotkey, and Merlin is ready.
We hear it often: I want to open Merlin without first finding a browser, opening a tab and logging in. From today you can. The CallMerlin desktop app is a small Windows application that runs in the background and opens with one hotkey.
How does it work?
- Download the app via the dashboard (Settings > Desktop app). PIN users download via their invite.
- Install on Windows 10 or higher. The app starts automatically with Windows.
- Copy your account code from the dashboard and paste it on first launch.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+M (customisable) and Merlin appears. Type your question in the chat window or click the microphone for a voice conversation.
- Minimise with the same hotkey or click outside the window. Merlin disappears to the system tray.
Why a desktop app?
The intranet widget is perfect for teams that want Merlin on SharePoint or Confluence. But for individual users who want to switch quickly, a native app is faster. No tabs to find, no browser needed, just a key combination.
The desktop app is also ideal for users without an intranet, or who work from home and do not always have an intranet page open. The app sits in your system tray and is always reachable.

Privacy and security
The desktop app stores no business data locally. Everything runs via the secured WebSocket connection to our EU servers. The account code is not a password, it is an identifier validated in combination with your PIN and 2FA. If a laptop is lost, there is no data on the device.
Availability
The desktop app is available from the Professional plan. Starter users do not see the account code and download in their dashboard. When downgrading from Professional to Starter the app is automatically blocked: the account code stops working even if the app is still installed.
How do I get the app?
- Go to Settings in the CallMerlin dashboard.
- Copy your account code.
- Click 'Download for Windows' and PIN users download via their invite.
- Install, paste your code, and you are ready.
